You are often told that care is essential in your hair routine. Are you still lost between hydration, nutrition, purification? We explain a little more about what each type of care brings you. Your days off will no longer have the same schedule:
Textured hair: need deep care
We know that textured hair is naturally drier than straight hair (see our article) due to more or less pronounced bends. Natural sebum therefore has a much harder time sliding along the hair fiber, leaving the lengths and ends very dry.
The objective for a majority of people with textured hair will therefore be to:
- moisturize the fiber regularly and deeply to soften it and promote definition. A hydrated hair is a plumper and shinier hair
- nourish the hair fiber in order to strengthen it and prevent it from breaking at the slightest friction or the slightest change of environment
- wavy and curly hair generally needs enough moisture to compensate for the lack of sebum on the lengths.
- coily hair is a fairly balanced texture that needs both hydration to soften curls and nutrition to strengthen brittle fibers.
- kinky hair tends to require more nutrition because of its tighter and therefore more brittle bends.
Having a hydrating mask at home is a must-have for anyone with textured hair! Whether you like the smell of grapefruit and rosewood in the Repair Time treatment or prefer DIY masks based on aloe vera, your hair will feel softer and less coarse with one moisturizer per week!
The hydration provided by hydrosols and other moisturizing components will soften the fiber over the long term and therefore limit the appearance of frizz . This dreaded phenomenon of wavy, curly and coily hair in particular occurs when the hair fiber finds itself lacking in hydration and therefore seeks ambient humidity.
Every problem has its solution! Too much frizz = make hydrating masks.
Regularly hydrated hair is healthier hair! In the long term, it will therefore not be necessary to hydrate it in large quantities on a daily basis. Your fiber will naturally be more supple and retain moisture better throughout your day.
But to retain hydration, you will also need to close the scales of your fiber in order to seal in hydration and optimize its distribution! This is where nourishing care comes in.
Hair fiber protection
Nourishing treatments, often composed of butters or vegetable oils, close the scales of the hair in order to preserve the hydration in the hair fiber. This is due to their rather thick composition: apply a few drops of Serum Croissance* in the morning after your refresh or the application of your moisturizing styling products to maintain a nice definition and shine throughout the day.
But this is not their only mission! The nourishing products will protect the hair fiber and leave a veil of protection essential to the definition of your wavy, curly, coily or kinky hair! Spray a little Cocktail Curl Remedy in your hand then apply the product to your lengths to protect your hair fiber. Its composition based on raspberry oil and pure keratin will strengthen your hair and therefore prevent it from breaking during your outings, sports activities or other external aggressions.
Your hair is not growing? Break too often and prevent you from getting the length of your dreams? Nourishing products are the solution! Performing an oil bath a week with the Serum Croissance will allow you to strengthen your fiber from the inside and guarantee your hair more growth.
Are you coming from a very polluted place? Do you feel your hair is heavy with products or are you starting a hair transition? The clay-based purifying treatments will allow to remove the residues of toxins and other hair products in depth. Our Tropical Detox, based on white clay, will also moisturize the hair fiber thanks to glycerin and agave syrup.
Apply it once a week for people in transition and maximum twice a month for people looking for detox care.
Tips from the LSL team
You don't have time for a moisturizing and nourishing treatment and want to spend as little time as possible in your bathroom? Don't hesitate to mix the Serum Croissance and the Repair Time in a bowl and then apply your mixture to damp, towel-dried hair. Then leave on for 20 minutes before starting your washing routine.
